We Raffaele, via the grace of God and his mercy bestowed within the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Western Europe and Canada, as Metropolitan Archbishop of Australia, New Zealand, Laus Pompeia (Chair of St. Barnabas) and Exarch of the British Isles, thus declare that the Archimandrite Georgios Emmanuel (ordained by us in bright week 2025AD) is now led down from clerical office.

The unforeseen occurs at any given moment and at times leaves us with unanswered questions especially in the category of physical health. Father Giorgio’s ministry was charismatic, being a person of deep prayer and discernment – highly gifted with the healing of others. As we know, those of us who are marked by God in a profound way are ultimately the ones who suffer the most and are often misunderstood by the conventional church community.

The Reverend Father’s health began winding down with the various pressures of being homeless, living on the streets (in his car) for years - ministering to those who are less fortunate, which ultimately took its toll upon him. Father Giorgios suffered a major stroke which has caused a rapid decline in mental and physical health.

Hence, in consideration of his request to retire from clerical office due to the unfortunate demise of good health, we have considered his petition and wholeheartedly oblige to his wishes in this season where the festal timeframe of the Pentecost comes to an end.

Therefore, we thus decree that the all pious Archimandrite Giorgios Emmanuel is from this day forward retired from the fullness of holy ministry, keeping to his monastic vows, continuing in silent prayer for the Church and for all people he has ministered to.

May the All Holy Spirit grant him and all those to whom he ministered, healing, peace and blessed assurance of the Divine Presence within their lives!
